"Kanoko" Hand Spun Yarn
Created by tying sections of the yarn to create a resist, this color way is named after the Shibori technique used- Kanoko. This ancient form of resist dyeing has been around for thousands of years in various forms and creates lovely distinctive breaks in the dye when used on yarn.
All the yarns in this product line are hand spun and hand dyed with natural materials here at the farm. The natural dyes used are chosen for their color longevity and color fastness. Please note there may be some slight bleeding when washed, especially with the blue tones, but will not affect the final color. The wool is a blend of our wool from the farm (Romney, Perendale, Coopworth) and New England Cheviot. There are two options for yarn thickness (yarn weight):
Worsted weight 2-ply: 150 yards US 7 (EU4.5 ) needles Hook US J EU 5.5
Bulky single ply: 150 yards US 9 (EU 5.5mm) needles Hook US L EU 7
Natural dyes used: Indigo
