Meet the sheep who make this all happen!

The OGs

(the Little Women)

(Left to Right) Jo, Meg and Amy were the first three sheep I purchased when I started the farm. Amy (mom) and her two daughters were destined to be culled but they seemed like good sound sheep with beautiful wool, despite Amy not being able to be bred anymore. So Amy gets to live here in retirement and be the gramma to her daughters lambs. Amy is a Coopworth while her daughters are Perendale/Coopworth crosses.

Amy is very much the matriarch, if I can get Amy to go somewhere the entire flock will follow. Meg is definitely her second in command. Jo, well Jo is my secret favorite and has a lovely personality. She is such a good mom, even the first time she had lambs.

The Dune Crew (TNG)

This is the second generation of sheep born out of Meg and Jo and my first Duncan. I still Ghanima, Stilgar and Jessica. Ghanima and Jessica will be new moms spring 2025 while Stilgar is a wether who keeps whoever needs it company. Ghanima and Jessica are both aloof and move like extra fuzzy deer. Stilgar…Stilgar has about two brain cells and both are dedicated to finding food. The three of them have Romney (from their Dad) Perendale and Coopworth (from their moms.) These three breeds are somewhat similar in that they are medium sized with medium wool, naturally polled and their locks range from medium to long.

The Duncan

My breeding ram is always named Duncan Idaho- a joke that comes from the God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert. My current Duncan is Duncan 2 who is a Romney Gotland cross I got from Ingendahl Acres in Wells, ME. He’s just a little guy right now but incredibly sweet. I hope he passes that down to his lambs!

The Tree Girls

These two Romney ladies I got from Fisher Farm here in Orwell. They have fantastic little personalities (Spruce is quite an adventurous escape artist) while Oak (pictured) is very personable and will allow head scratches. They like to hang out with Ms. Dot.

Ms. Dot

Ms. Dot is a special case. She is currently living here on loan from a friend of mine down the road. The rest of her old flock passed and she rapidly started to loose weight since she wasn’t eating, most likely in a little sheepy depression, they are herd animals after all. Me and my friend decided that she would be happier here for a while so she gets to chill in knee deep grass and hang out with the Tree Girls. She is a Border Leicester who will have beautiful wool once it grows out a bit!
